In plain English, because small print helps nobody. This explains what I collect, why, and what you can ask me to do about it.
Who I am
This website, www.ysby.co.uk, belongs to Derrick Tuke-Hastings, author of Happiness Is You Still Being You. If you have any question about your information, email me directly at derrick@ysby.co.uk and I will answer you personally.
What I collect
- If you ask for the free sample chapter: your email address, and nothing else.
- If you use the contact form: your name, your email address, and whatever you choose to tell me in the message, including any event details you add.
- If you use the prompts page: nothing at all. Anything you type into the boxes on that page stays in your own browser. It is never sent to me and it is not stored anywhere.
Why I collect it, and what I do with it
If you ask for the sample chapter, I use your email address to send it to you, and after that to send occasional news about the book, the talk and anything new worth knowing. That is it. No daily emails, no selling you things you did not ask about.
If you contact me about speaking or anything else, I use your details to reply and to arrange the work we discuss.
The lawful basis is your consent, which you give by asking for the chapter or by getting in touch. You can withdraw it whenever you like.
Who else sees it
- MailerLite, which stores the mailing list and sends the emails on my behalf.
- Google Fonts, which serves the typefaces this site uses. Loading a page requests those fonts from Google, which involves your IP address.
I do not sell your information, I do not share it with anyone else, and I do not pass it to other authors, publishers or event organisers.
Cookies and tracking
This site does not set advertising or tracking cookies, and there is no advertising on it.
How long I keep it
I keep your email address on the mailing list until you unsubscribe or ask me to remove you. Enquiry emails I keep for as long as they are useful for the work we discussed, and then I delete them.
Unsubscribing
Every email I send has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. One click and you are off the list. You can also just email me and ask, which works equally well.
Your rights
You can ask me to show you what I hold about you, correct it, or delete it entirely. Email me and I will do it, without asking you why. If you are ever unhappy with how I have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in any way that matters, I will update this page and change the date below.
